Axis Shield |
Axis-Shield plc is a global in vitro diagnostics business with development and manufacturing capabilities and three separate business areas. The company has a Laboratory Division selling to clinical laboratories, a Point-of-Care (PoC) Division which supplies the near patient test sector, and the distribution businesses of Medinor for the Nordic area and Axis-Shield UK for the United Kingdom. More recently we have acquired our own distribution organisations in Switzerland (Axis-Shield AG) and Germany (Axis-Shield GmbH), both focusing on PoC products. We sell directly, through our own and third party distributors, and also via OEM contracts. The company's shares are traded on the London and Oslo Stock Exchanges
Our vision is "to improve healthcare as a global provider of innovative in-vitro diagnostic products", which is backed up by the following Mission Statement:
"To identify and develop novel, patentable in vitro diagnostic products to meet clinical needs in the laboratory and at the point of care. We will collaborate with partners, create branded products, and add complementary businesses which support our objective of growing an innovative and increasingly profitable company"
We believe our products are making a difference and that we are improving lives by offering innovative, high quality, reliable in vitro diagnostic products which promote improved patient management. Customers may use our products with confidence as we operate to the highest quality standards, with well trained support staff to provide professional advice and help if needed.
Axis-Shield has proprietary technology in near patient testing and a number of patented markers in areas of clinical need. Areas of special focus include cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes and more recently, sepsis. In our home markets of the UK and the Nordic countries we sell not only our own products but also complementary in vitro and other medical devices.
We firmly believe that our products provide clinicians and other healthcare professionals with tools to deliver better patient care. Early, rapid and differential diagnosis of disease in the presence of the patient facilitates the best treatment options and is being increasingly recognised as an essential component of more effective primary care. |
